Haiku and Tanka

Ball

Entertaining us
As we are once younger
Sitting on the shelf
Grass
The palace of the green
Sits on our very own earth
Looking up to see
The death or life of humans
Alters our world as we know it

Kenya

A Father’s watching his so die of malnutrition

He is bloated
He is sick
He needs medical help
He needs a friend
He needs a hope
Why does he have to go?
In America this is not tolerated
Why is it here?
Why not an American boy?
Why my son?
Why?
These things are not my fault
I seek new employment tomorrow to get more money
To save him
If it’s not to late
But it is and he must go
Even if it was my choice
But it’s not
